Monday Made It- Erin Condren Planner Upcycle
If you follow me on Instragram...you may have seen this picture....and your Erin Condren lovin' heart may have skipped a beat...
My favorite thing about my EC Planner is the bright colors and inspiring quotes throughout. I couldn't possibly just throw my old one away, could I?! Of course not!
So the first thing I did was cut out my name on my planner. If you have watched me on Periscope, you have heard why my blog is still Miss Johnston's Journey even though I am now Mrs. Paull. I knew when I rebranded last January I wanted to keep Miss Johnston. Not having another class as Miss Johnston, and my new kiddos not calling Miss J kinda broke my heart a little. I don't use Miss Johnston as a way to hide behind my blog, or be incognito, I use it so I can be forever Miss Johnston. A little piece of the beginning of my teaching journey I can hold onto.
So I wanted to cut out my name and frame it!
So now it sits in my office next to my Mrs. Paull pencil!
I also wanted to keep the pretty papers and quotes from my planner, so I made a little collage of my favorites!
And it too is in my office now.
Below are the videos of my Periscope from last week when I showed what my plans were: One is a screencast, so it includes hearts and commentary, but the video is a bit delayed. The other is just the video..so it is like I'm taking to myself! :D
Also...I made this watercolor print as a freebie in celebration of my 2 Year Bloggiverary, 1,000 TpT followers, and a personal monthly sales milestone on TpT.
And the FABULOUS Mel D from Seusstastic made an appearance on my Saturday scope.
So this set of glitter stripe papers were inspired by her!
I'm not going to lie when I saw your Instagram picture my heart did skip a beat. ;) Wow, what a creative and clever idea!! I love it. There are so many adorable quotes and sayings in the planners, what a great idea to reuse them. Thanks for sharing and for the great tip! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't even have an EC planner, but my heart skipped a beat when I saw your planner on IG this morning. I was wondering what you were up to. Your collage of upcycles is just perfect. I have told everyone at school that I don't want to be called by my new last name. I panicked in the Social Security office and decided not to go with a hypen. I'm regretting that choice now.

Love the idea of recycling your planner and keeping your original teaching name around!

Absolutely love this idea! The thought of throwing away the pretty papers in my EC planner make me cringe, but now you've given me something to do with them. Thank you for sharing! Genius! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I love the collage of quotes and designs!
ReplyDeleteFunny maiden name story. There is a girl who now goes to my church who was in one of my first classes (before getting married). She is in high school and so helps at Bible School. She told one of the little kids ask, Mrs. Umm, Miss Umm, her. She said she knew 3 names for me and wasn't sure what to call me. (Married name, maiden name, first name).

What a great idea....I haven't had the heart to part with my old ones....this is great and will give my classroom some pops of color and quotes:) Thanks for linking up:)

I loooooove your ideas for upcycling your planner! I have like 3 old teacher planners just sitting in my closet at school. I finally went through and pulled out the stickers I didn't use, but I totally want to frame those pretty papers and quotes. I've been enjoying the recent blabs with you! I also fangirl over comments and scopes, I'm totally like "OMG Sheila Jane just said my name!!!" :) I'm excited to see more stuffs from you, and maybe chat with you again in blab!
